Ubittu is a snack best served with tea. It is easy to prepare and is done on many Baduga festivals.


For the batter:

Maida Flour – 500 g
Sugar-250 g
Salt to taste
Oil to fry

For the Stuffing:

Roasted Gram – 250 g
Grated Coconut – 1 cup
Sugar – 100 grams


  • Mix the Maida flour, salt and sugar along with a little water to make the batter and keep it aside.(similar to Dosa Batter)
  • Grind roasted gram to a coarse powder.
  • Mix it with grated coconut and sugar.
  • Add a little water to the mixture and make it into small balls.
  • Keep oil in a pan to heat.
  • When the oil is ready, dip these balls into the batter and fry till they become golden brown.

Ubittu is ready!

Best Combination:

Serve with Coffee or Tea.

Alternate Tip:

Instead of roasted gram, Bengal gram can also be used. In that case, Bengal gram has to be cooked previously before grinding it into coarse powder.
